London Bus, Tube & Rail Journey Planner

After getting to the point where I am happy enough with a tube application for the iPhone & iPod; it became more apparent a complete application is also needed for the Greater London bus network. Besides numerous requests, I have also learnt some people were just waiting for me to write something.

London Travel Deluxe (Formerly London Bus) covers the main daytime & nighttime network, containing nearly 600 detailed routes (599 to be exact). The application knows where more than 20,000 individual bus stops are and seamlessly integrates with Transport for London’s journey planner.

The London Bus network is probably one of the most complex and extensive public transport networks in the world. However the main design goal of this application was to bury such complexity and make something easy to use & understand. The application is not just restricted to the bus network either; it cover all modes of transport available in the TfL journey planner.

Main features:

  • Journey plan across the Bus, Tube, Rail, River, Tram & DLR networks
  • Locate your nearest stops and the routes that run through them
  • Favourite routes & areas
  • Specify From and To locations with a quick look up from over 500 stations, or enter a postcode or even a partial address.
  • Journey plan history.
  • Whilst in transit use the route details screen to follow your progress towards your destination
  • Look up timetables for a particular route for any bus stop.

    Hello,
I’ve been using your london travel deluxe for a while now, it’s been invaluable for travel around london. I’ve also been using toodledo for my todo lists and they have location based reminders, have you ever thought of adding something like that to your apps ? I could see it being useful for complex journeys.
    Thank
    Tim

    Malcolm,

Please please please develop the London Travel app for Android. Just made the switch from iPhone to Android (Samsung Galaxy S2) and can’t find an app as good as yours on the Android market! As many people make the switch to Android, I’m sure there’s definitely many people out there like me who would go for the app in an instant.

Keep up the great work! Thanks

    Tim

    Hi Tim,

Sorry, at the moment iOS development just consumes me. There’s also a number of problems Android development presents a small dev like myself, I have written more about that here…

    Will I Develop For Android?

    Best regards,
    Malcolm

  4. Hi Malcolm – thanks for such a great app. I use it several times a week as I move around London, and recommend it as a good investment to all acquaintances who are visiting the Smoke for even a day.

A question though: now that TfL have made the bus arrivals information available on an individual bus-stop basis, will you be incorporating that into the app? Hope so!

    Thanks again,

    Paul.
