Demo of London Bus: Video Demo London Bus 2.0.mov
After getting to the point where I am happy enough with a tube application for the iPhone & iPod; it became more apparent a complete application is also needed for the Greater London bus network. Besides numerous requests, I have also learnt some people were just waiting for me to write something.
London Bus covers the main daytime & nighttime network, containing nearly 600 detailed routes (599 to be exact). The application knows where more than 20,000 individual bus stops are and seamlessly integrates with Transport for London’s journey planner.
The London Bus network is probably one of the most complex and extensive public transport networks in the world. However the main design goal of this application was to bury such complexity and make something easy to use & understand.
This is day one. I have a number of other features planned for the application and as always will be driven by user feedback.
Main features:
- Journey planner, pin suggested stops, stations and addresses in Google Maps
- Locate your nearest stops and the routes that run through them
- Favourite routes & areas
- Specify From and To locations with a quick look up from over 500 stations, or enter a postcode or even a partial address.
- Journey plan history.
- Whilst in transit use the route details screen to follow your progress towards your destination
- Look up timetables for a particular route for any bus stop.
