Tube Deluxe 5.0, Is on its way…

IMG_0907I have been asked if there will be an update of the Map in Tube Deluxe to include the new Circle line extension, answer is yes. In fact it’s going to be a whole new major version. Version 5.0 has the latest Official London Underground map which includes the Circle line extension to Hammersmith and the addition of the recently opened Imperial Wharf.

The app is now in the approval process with Apple. Approval times vary, but based on experience its release will be sometime just after New Year.

So what’s the big deal about 5.0? Tube Deluxe will now journey plan you around part or full line closures on the main underground network. It will not plan around DLR & Overground closures. However you can selectively turn lines on & off. Under the hood this is quite a technical feat and has taken sometime to perfect, even TfL’s own online journey planner will not route you around unplanned closures as they happen.

Other new features:

  • Itinerary Displays Towards Station Details
  • Email or SMS Itinerary
  • Integrated Google Maps
  • Indexed Station Finder
  • Departure Favourites Tab
  • Speak Station Name & Itinerary (This is an accessibility feature, the app can now speak station names or read the Itinerary to you).

Multiple languages are now supported: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese & Chinese.

There are also numerous interface tweaks & enhancements.
