London Bus 1.0, Routes Covered

I intend to make London Bus the most accurate and useful bus application (just like I have done for Tube Deluxe), if your route is not in version 1.0, let me know so I can include it in the next version (which I have already started working on). Here is a complete list of the routes covered…

  1. deerfold says:

Are you aiming to include all routes? A quick glance shows 327 and X68 missing.

  2. deerfold says:

You’re missing 35 day routes from those contracted by London Buses. Let me know if you want the list.

  3. Malcolm Barclay says:

Sure send me your list. I certainly do aim to cover the entire main day & night time network, but it’s always a case of constructing complete data. I am working on a number of updates for the routes that will fill in the missing ones and increase the accuracy of the others.

This is day one. And I am by no means finished.

  4. Zerocrop says:

This will be a fantastic app once it is fully accurate. It seems 98% there already. But I just used the locate function to check the bus stop outside my house and the N19 is missing

  5. deerfold says:

Missing day routes (apologies – only 32, not 35):

I’ll look into night routes later.

  6. deerfold says:

Are you thinking of putting school routes open to the general public and mobility routes on?

    Good luck with this…

  7. Zerocrop says:

I’ve just spotted a mistake in one of my routes. The 30.

On London Bus it finshes Euston Square > Warren Street > UCH > Angel

It actually goes Euston Square > UCH > Warren Street > then along Marylebone Road, Baker Street Oxford Street and finishes at Marble Arch. Angel is earlier in the route.

  8. Malcolm Barclay says:

Yes this is one of the fix ups on the way :-]

  9. Malcolm Barclay says:

deerfold, I wish I had the data but sadly not at this stage. I 100% focused on getting the main day & night routes as good as they possibly can be.

  10. deerfold says:

I think I’ve missed where you’re getting the data from? I’m just worried about how much work it’ll be for you doing updates to the network.

  11. deerfold says:

Oh, and there’s 603, which is technically not a school route as it runs Mon-Fri schooldays and non-schooldays, but only 3 times each way near the peaks.

  12. Malcolm Barclay says:

I have had to do some shameful programming (mostly php scripting) to massage data from about three different sources. It’s something that’ll be constantly refined, I am also entertaining the idea of having users input this directly into the app for feedback and propagation to all (with some sanity checks in between). Particularly for obtaining the latitude & longitude of various stops.

I have been working on refining the routes and adding the missing ones. I now have 599 routes; I can assure everyone the route themselves are correct (well as correct as TfL publish them). But for the time being will only run one direction, subsequent directions will be another release. I don’t have the data for every single stop that the routes through, about 6% is missing on some of the newer routes, the main ones are sweet.

Some routes run in multiple directions (e.g 305), which makes it even more confusing! I have some ideas on how to elegantly handle this UI wise in a future release.

    …more soon.

  13. deerfold says:

B12′s a fun one – the route it takes depends on the time of day (alternate directions round the Joydens Wood loop). Not quite sure what the problem with the 305 is.

Apologies – you seem to have found a bus geek.

  14. Malcolm Barclay says:

No apologies needed, transport geeks are most welcome. Since Deluxe I have meet some real transport fanatics, people who even update geographic coordinates for fun! There are a number of services & information that just wouldn’t be possible without them.
